Here
we go again. There is a new wind blowing; the wind of change; the wind of a
brand new year. It is the wind of 2018. Do you know what is interesting about
this wind? Well, what I have noticed is that this wind has changed everyone’s
song-everyone is singing a new song.
People’s
songs of discontent have changed to songs of gratitude. People’s songs of
sadness have changed to songs of happiness (Happy New Year). People are singing
songs of new possibilities; songs of new goals. All of a sudden, people have
found new motivations and energy to do the impossible in 2018. The other bit is
many set foot in church for the first time during the year to praise God like
never before. It will interest you to know that even the birds in the sky are
singing new songs and the crickets at night are chirping the New Year way. It
is called the 2018 FEVER.
This
new excitement makes me happy for you. My only question however is; how long is
this fever going to last? The painful reality is that 2018 is not going to
bring you any positive changes that you desire. You need to bring the positive
changes to 2018. You see, those who are achieving their goals didn’t have to
wait till the end of the year to get motivated. Because they have habituated ways
of living, they are motivated throughout the year. In fact, the 31st December,
2017 is just like any other day in 2017. It is not the most important day of
the year. It is not how you feel right now or the goals you set right now that
matters. It is how you will feel during the year when you get too comfortable
to do anything. It is how you will feel during the year when you have your back
against the wall, when it seems everything is falling apart, and when all
motivation is lost, that matters. Ultimately, it is your attitude and your
commitment that will matter in 2018 if you want to make any difference.
Don’t
let your excitement right now die an early death. It is my desire that you will
carry this excitement with you throughout the year. As you move into 2018, I
want to share my four big ideas for 2018 with you.
The
first big idea is to have an attitude of
gratitude. It is very easy for you to feel unhappy or sad because you think
that you have wasted the whole of 2017. It is very easy to lose sight of the
little wonderful moments you had. It is easy to forget to count your blessings.
Don’t let this happen to you; remember to be grateful for the victories (big or
small) you had in 2017. Enter 2018 with an attitude of gratitude because the secret
to having all the good you are looking for, is to be grateful for all the good you
have now.
The
second big idea is to share your dreams
(resolutions) with people within your close circle you can trust. I know that
we are generally discouraged from sharing our dreams for obvious reasons. I am
not suggesting here that you should broadcast to the whole world what you are
up to, as that can do more harm than good. What I am suggesting is that you
share your dreams with one or two people who can motivate and give you support
when you need it. One reason you may not want to share your dreams is that you
are afraid that people will hold you responsible for it. Sharing your dreams
with people you can trust has a way of creating motivational leverage to keep
you going because you don't want to disappoint them. For example, I have set in motion two important New Year’s
resolutions which I have shared with people within my close circle and so far
it has done more good than bad.
The
third big idea is to remember that action
is the starting point to the actual realization of every dream. You can
dream all you can and plan all you can but it is only action that sets your
dream in motion. Make 2018 your year of action.
The
last but not least big idea is that 2018
is a gift. No matter how good or bad your 2017 was, 2018 presents you with
a new opportunity to make a change. 2018 presents you with a blank sheet to
write another chapter (a new chapter) of your life. Tomorrow is always better
once you see it as an opportunity. Make every day of the year important; make
every day a 31st December. The best is yet to come. Remember that;
Just
when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she began to fly.
I
humbly suggest that you carry your new excitement with you throughout 2018 even
as you strive to achieve your goals. Make every day in 2018 important. Be
grateful every day. What I wish for you
is positive attitude and commitment throughout the year, long life and
Prosperity. Happy New Year 2018!
